In addition to all the musical files in this section, we wanted to let you know about some of the ways that music plays a role in the life of TI during the year.
Temple Israel has had a proud choral tradition for decades, under the direction of Irene Golan. The group was re-founded as the Temple Israel of Natick Singers in 2012 by Stanley Hoffman, and is currently directed by Alan Nelson. The group of 20-or-so singers sing largely four-part choral pieces in Hebrew, English, and Yiddish, among other languages. The group has sung at late Friday night services, holiday programs, and events in the community. We currently rehearse on Sunday evenings. As Alan says: “this is the BEST home-grown group I’ve ever heard….and I feel lucky and honored to be a part of it. THAT BEING SAID……we are ALWAYS looking for new singers. The more the merrier. If you can carry a tune, play well with others, and would like to experience the unique feeling that comes from singing great music in beautiful harmonies….AND…..have a fun time doing it….come join us. We laugh as much as we sing….and…the therapeutic value of that combination cannot be beat!! While choral experience and reading music are pluses….neither is essential as we provide many tools to help you learn your parts.” Contact Alan with any questions or interest!

Cafe Achshav has been an annual musical fundraiser event for the past several years. Chaired by Lisa Avery-Peck and Marlene Dodyk, the event has featured wonderful music, delicious food, and a transformation of our social hall into a world music coffee house!
Save the date: Café Achshav—A Jewish World Music Café, on Sunday evening, April 29, from 7:15-9:15 p.m. at Temple Israel of Natick. This year’s café will feature Israeli singer Gitit Shoval and her band.
In previous years the cafe featured Israeli-themed jazz, Spanish and Ladino music, and Jewish music from around the world.
