The Adopt a Family Committee of Temple Israel, Natick, MA. is a group of volunteers who are dedicated to help victims of terror in Israel. Adopt-A-Family fundraises through many venues to support families who have lost dear ones, been injured, or had their homes destroyed due to terrorist attacks, bus bombings, and qassam missile attacks. All money raised goes to help families. All money raised goes to help families, with whom our congregation has often developed long standing bonds and friendships.
The Interfaith Community Garden a joint initiative of Temple Israel and local religious institutions, grows fresh produce for A Place to Turn, an emergency food and clothing pantry in Natick.
The Caring Committee is a group of Temple Israel members committed to assisting other synagogue families in times of need. Committee members are available to prepare meals, visit the sick (in or out of the hospital), grocery shop, telephone members in need of friendly conversation, provide rides to doctors’ appointments, house sitting during funerals, and do whatever is necessary to provide physical and emotional support to our Temple community.
The Family Table Committee is responsible each month for donating 50 four-pack rolls of toilet paper to JF&CS Family Table. Family Table helps approximately 400 Jewish families around the Boston area, and any donation made will be helping another needy family.
Greater Boston Jewish Coalition for Literacy. Synagogue members volunteer an hour per week at elementary schools in Framingham to assist kids with their reading skills. Volunteers are trained by the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC).
Thanksgiving Drive. Volunteers organize a food drive to make sure that needy families have turkey and fixings for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Inclusion Committee helps assure accessibility for everyone at Temple Israel and that there are no barriers to participation in services. We make available large-print prayer books, listening devices, and magnifiers, and have made certain that our building’s doors, sanctuary and bimah, and a first floor bathroom are fully accessible.
