Board of Directors

I have been a member, along with my husband Ken, of Temple Israel since 2015.  The investment and connection of the TI community is breathtaking.  It’s what drew me to TI and it’s what I love to share.  I have served in several roles over the past 8 years:  as Sisterhood president for 3 years, as VP of Membership along with new roles in Sisterhood., and as EVP prior to starting my current position as president.  We have two grown children, both are married and live locally.  I love to garden, hike, craft, and do home renovation projects.

Alan Avery-Peck has a long history of board and executive board involvement over his 30years as a member of Temple Israel. Along with several terms as a board member, he has served as Vice-President for Religion and Israel Action, Executive Vice President, and, in 2019-2021, as the congregation’s president. Alan has been involved with numerous congregational projects, including a year-long project that created a congregation-wide conversation about how the community can best be open to and accept fellow congregants’ diverse perspectives on Israel. He also was centrally involved with our recent Federal Security grant, which allowed us to update all of our building’s security systems and, in the process, install our new sanctuary windows. When he is not busy with Temple Israel, Alan is the Kraft Hiatt Professor in Judaic Studies at the College of the Holy Cross, in Worcester, MA.

I am currently the VP of Finance and have previously served as Treasurer, Financial Secretary and as a member of the board of directors. My wife Elana has been teaching in Temple Israel’s religious school since 1999 and we became members of Temple Israel in 2002. I am a CPA and practice in public accounting. In my spare time I enjoy watching soccer and reading. I am proud to be associated with Temple Israel as it provides a wonderful place of worship as well as opportunities for numerous educational and social activities.

I joined Temple Israel of Natick when I first moved to Framingham in 1991. I quickly became involved in the Chaverim (young couples) club, then Mishpacha (now defunct young families) club, Treasurer of the Judy Gordon Nursery School Parents Association, co-chaired Shabbat morning Kiddush for several years then became a member of the Board of Directors. I am currently serving as Treasurer of Temple Israel. I have made many wonderful friends at Temple Israel and raised my two boys, now 20 and 23, going to Temple Israel regularly. Professionally, I have 30+ years experience in Corporate Finance including roles in accounting, budgeting and financial reporting.

I am currently the Financial Secretary and frequently help out with security during Saturday morning services. I have also coached one of the Temple Israel men’s softball teams for the last 4 years and have played for the team for 10 years. Originally from Chicago, my wife and I moved to Boston in 2003 and then came to Natick in 2012 when we quickly became members. We have always found the community at TI to be incredibly inclusive and love how it provides a variety of activities and opportunities for all ages.
