Torah/Haftorah Reading Schedule

The Torah/Haftorah reading schedule is stored in an Excel spreadsheet. Excel provides capabilities to sort and filter the contents of the spreadsheet. For your convience we have created two versions of the spreadsheet, Sorted by Parasha and Sorted by Reader. In order to view them you must have Adobe® Acrobat® Reader installed on your computer. If you don't have it then you can download it for free from Adobe's web site.

If you have Excel you can download the spreadsheet to your computer and manipulate it yourself. If you have a Windows PC, right click on the spreadsheet link. This will cause a popup menu to appear. Netscape users should select the "Save Link As" option while Internet Explorer users should select "Save Target As". You will then be prompted to specify where on your computer you want to save it the file.

If you have a MacIntosh then click and hold on the link which will cause a list to pop up. If you are using the Netscape browser, choose "Save this Link as ..." If you are using Internet Explorer for the Mac, choose "Download link to disk". Then a "Save" window pops up and you can save the file to your disk.

Once you have saved the file to your hard disk you can access it directly from your computer instead of having to download it from the web site again. Just make sure to remember where you saved it and save it with the .xls extension.

Here are some examples of the things you can do with the spreadsheet after you've downloaded it.

  1. Sorting
    1. From the Data menu, select Sort
    2. Select your sort keys from the pulldown lists. Typically you will want to sort on Date and Aliyah, or Reader and Date
  2. Filtering
    1. Place the curser in any cell on the top row.
    2. From the Data menu, select Filter->AutoFilter.
    3. Pulldown menus will appear in all the cells of the first row.
    4. Select what you are interested in from the pulldown menus. For example, you can select your name under the Reader column and only your readings will be shown. You can then select say a book of the Torah and only your reading for that book will be shown.
    5. You can also setup advanced filters to filter on such things as a range of dates.
