The Cantor's Voice

HaKol Summer 2009

As I write this, the school year is beginning to wind down. Mazal tov to our Judy Gordon Nursery School graduates. It’s been a pleasure to sing with you and your families throughout the year and to celebrate Shabbat with you on Friday mornings. We look forward to your continuing your Jewish education in kindergarten or in day schools. Mazal tov to our Gesher class who recently celebrated its Siyyum. It has been wonderful to celebrate your Bar and Bat Mitzvah year with you and to see you participating in morning minyan, reading Torah and performing mitzvot in our community. We look forward to your continuing your Jewish journeys at Prozdor, through USY, and through other synagogue and community events. Thank you so much to Chip Horowitz, the officers and board for steering us through the past two years. We appreciate all your hard work, and the time and efforts you dedicate to the Temple Israel community. Marc, we look forward to your thoughtful stewardship as you become president, along with the new slate of officers and board. As we move into spring and summer, weather permitting, we will hold our Friday night services outside in our beautiful courtyard. The atmosphere allows us to sing together in this beautiful space, allowing the birds and the wind to add their voices to our davening. On Friday June 5, we will have a Barbecue and Borechu. We hope you can join us for this, as well as other Friday night services throughout the spring and summer. After the Bar and Bat Mitzvah season is over, we will conduct our Shabbat morning services in the more informal space of the social hall. Please let me know if you are interested in an opportunity to read Torah, Haftorah, or lead a part of the service over the summertime.
