Once known as the Mishpocha (Family) Committee, the Early Childhood Education Committee (ECEC) addresses the needs of families with children in preschool through elementary school. The goals of this committee are to acquaint young families with each other and to present events that enable families to experience the richness of Jewish ritual. Our monthly family Shabbat services and dinners are examples of programs designed especially for young children. Singing and storytelling are highlights of this abbreviated service. Those children celebrating birthdays are called to the bimah for a special blessing and gift. ECEC works cooperatively with other organizations in the Temple. Together, they provide educational workshops and programs highlighting Jewish holidays and rituals which families can learn and then bring into their homes. Examples of such programs include our annual Sukkot activities program and Shavuot first fruits procession.
